HITACHI Capital Vehicle Solutions has won a major funding and vehicle management deal with one of the UK’s largest infrastructure and utility support service providers, as Amey signs Hitachi for its entire 8,500-vehicle fleet.

This new agreement will see Hitachi provide Amey with the funding and vehicle management for its complete business-critical fleet of vehicles and specialist assets.

As the sole leasing partner for Amey, Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions will be keeping the company’s 21,000-strong employee base on the move.

With more than 320 operational contracts, Amey provides an unrivalled range of services, including utilities, highways, waste management, rail, justice solutions, social housing and facilities management across the UK.

This diverse range of operations necessitates a fleet of bespoke and specialist vehicles to be available nationwide at any time. Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions is uniquely positioned in the marketplace to offer this level of support.

Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions’ team of experts are now embedded with Amey’s operations, providing the internal teams with a continuous consultancy service for their operations.

Jon Lawes

Hitachi MD Jon Lawes commented: “We are delighted to continue working with Amey. Over the last six years, we have built a close relationship with Amey which has resulted in this new partnership.

“Being entrusted with the management of their entire fleet, including vehicles critical to maintaining parts of the nation’s infrastructure, is a great responsibility. This appointment demonstrates our ability to fund and manage the most complex and mission critical fleets operating in the UK.

“Supporting such a vast, diverse and dynamic company like Amey requires the support and infrastructure of a large organisation but also the responsiveness of an agile business; this is exactly what Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions offers, along with the knowledge and expertise to help transform Amey’s fleet and operations over the next six years.”

Tom Lawless, Amey’s fleet and plant director, added: “Amey is one of the largest and most diverse companies working for the public and regulated sectors in the UK, with the ultimate aim of creating better places for people to live, work and travel.

“To achieve our aims, we need a fleet of specialist vehicles that are provided and managed to the standards of operational safety, compliance adherence and optimum availability, that are also fit for purpose when considering required customer outcomes.

“Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions is uniquely placed as one of the only leasing companies to offer full support for our mix of operations. This new partnership will allow our business to make better use of our fleet of dedicated assets, which will ultimately result in a better service for our customers.”
