On 18 November Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that new cars and vans powered wholly by petrol and diesel will not be sold in the UK from 2030. This timeframe is 10 years sooner than earlier estimates and presents both opportunities and challenges for businesses who run fleets.

EMTEC’s advice is that the time to start planning for the future is NOW!

What we do:

Emtec offers a completely new approach to fleet and emissions management, delivering robust and independently verified emissions data that meets UK Government Buying Standards (GBS) for transport and UK Accounting requirements.

Emtec has developed alongside the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) a unique piece of technology, Smart Fleet Cloud, that enables fleets to measurably reduce their emissions in a way that is accurate, validated and compliant.

This means users can:

  • Accurately measure emissions across their fleet
  • Report carbon footprint reductions compliant with UK Accounting Regulations
  • Model the impact (financial and environmental) of changing their fleet.

Emtec’s team combine their mathematical, automotive engineering and leasing expertise to deliver a consultancy-based analysis of existing fleet costs and emission levels aligned to all change options available.

These skills will help users plan and implement cost effective and timely transformation plans that meet UK Accounting Regulations for Environmental Carbon Reporting and this newly announced deadline of 2030. It is worth pointing out here that the announcement did confirm that some hybrids will still be allowed.

How can EMTEC specifically help your business to plan ahead for the transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs)

Emtec works with businesses to provide a Whole Life Cost (WLC) analysis for conventional vehicles vs EVs. This analysis includes finance and fuel costs, service, maintenance and repair (SMR), insurance Benefit-in-Kind Tax, Class 1A National Insurance Contributions (NICs) and Plug-in Car Grants.

Assessing WLC now and in the coming years will enable your business to plan for the transition to a fully alternative fleet armed with important facts, figures and analysis.

Their team’s extensive knowledge of what manufacturers are offering now, and what they plan to offer in the future, is also a huge benefit for users as it ensures the switch to an electric fleet doesn’t take a ‘one size fits all’ approach. It is important to investigate best vehicle replacement for your business and for your people. Emtec works with businesses to focus on relative performance, usage and financial values among many other things.
