JLR’S Jaguar brand is said to be considering adding more Jaguar high-performance variants to its model range.

Autocar has reported that vehicles that may qualify for the Jaguar high-performance treatment include the new XE saloon, which is expected to benefit from the “R” treatment. Autocar has also suggested that that this variant will use the automaker’s supercharged V-8 petrol engine that currently features in the F-Type.

Sources at the company have said already that this engine fits under the bonnet line better than its four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. This model will also have eight-speed automatic transmission and suspension to fit with its new, sportier character.

There is also potential for an even faster Jaguar high-performance variant tuned by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division.

Another model expected to benefit from similar modifications is the forthcoming F-Pace crossover.
