Contract hire set to surge in fleets

Findings from the Arval Mobility Observatory’s latest Barometer show that the percentage of businesses operating vehicle fleets who either intend to increase or introduce the use of this means of finance during the next three years has risen to more than half (51%) from slightly more than a quarter (26%) during the last 12 months, an increase of almost 100%

Optimism rises over fleet growth

The top three reasons for the envisaged increase in fleet size are led by company growth or development of a new activity that requires vehicles (67%), provision of a safe commute for employees due to COVID-19 (34%) and companies planning to offer vehicles to employees who are not currently eligible (32%).

Growing number of SMEs looking to go electric

Interest in electric vehicles is growing rapidly among small-medium sized enterprises (SMEs), according to the latest research from the Arval Mobility Observatory. For plug-in hybrids, almost half of SMEs (46%) either already have them or plan to put them on fleet compared to just 28% in 2019 while, for hybrids, they were 45% this year against 37% in 2019.
