2017 Fast Track 100 logoTHE van specialist leasing broker Vanarama has broken into the Sunday Times Fast Track 100.

Ranked 73, Vanarama was noted for its catchy ads and sponsorship of National League football.

The van leasing firm generated £36.1m in 2016 representing a 54.12% increase in sales over a three year period.

Originally founded in 2004 by CEO Andy Alderson, Vanarama started life as a used vehicle dealership with six employees but has grown into the UK’s largest commercial vehicle leasing broker.

Recent innovations include a move into car leasing and short-term leasing as well as commercial vehicle insurance.  The company’s latest venture has taken it overseas, launching the Vanarama brand into the US market.

“I’m often asked what the key to the on-going growth of Vanarama is,” says Andy, “There’s no secret really.  A dose of good old-fashioned hard-work, always focusing on customer service and keeping abreast of the latest technologies demanded by our customer base are fundamental.  For instance, we’ve just launched iVan, the first end-to-end AI chatbot in use by a UK automotive company.”

The Fast Track 100 is sponsored by Virgin, Barclays, BDO, BGF and Virgin Media Business, and is compiled by Fast Track, the Oxford-based research and networking events firm.

The top spot on the league table went to Welsh company Aerfin. It has spent more than £100m buying aircraft, engines and spares worldwide, which it recycles and sells or leases. Sales have grown 231% pa over three years to £60.9m in 2016, and it recently secured a seven-year contract to provide component support for 20 British Airways’ jets.

Vanarama is the only leasing firm in the top 100.
